Spooky season Makeup

It's been a long time since I've posted on this blog and I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my painty heart. To be honest, life has thrown all of us so many curveballs since 2020 and when I wasn't working and creating new art, my heart was broken into pieces. I took that time to dive in deeper to discover who I was as an artist and realized Face and Body painting wasn't all I had to offer. I could do so much more. I dabbled in calligraphy, canvas painting and perfume bottle painting. I will post more about that later but, I am so much happier now being at home and just offering my services for parties and event again. It's been 4 years of building my business up again and as of right now I no longer have a plan to travel teaching but, who knows what tomorrow will bring. I try not to ever say "Never" because as we have all seen our world can change in a flash.

Anyway, I finally figured out my login info to this blog and hope to start posting again regularly. Well, at least a few times a month. That's a goal I think I can commit to.

We're coming up on the Halloween/Harvest season and I've had the opportunity to create a Fantasy/beauty look for a wonderful client of mine who was just an absolute pleasure to work on. I mean, Have you ever worked with a client that you feel you want to ask to use to be a model for future projects because she's just perfect?! That is exactly who I had the pleasure to work with and you can see why below.

It was my clients birthday and she was having an epic Friday the 13th birthday party. She was going for a vampy/witchy look with a pop of Red so we can up with this. She needed her makeup to last all night. Her party started at 8pm but because I was booked, I had to do her makeup at 1pm and be finished by 3pm latest. Of course being who I am I couldn't just let her put everything together without my help. I helped her fix her headpiece and showed her how to style her wig and headpiece together. I love what I do and when it all comes together I just feel like YESSSSSS inside. I mean, isn't this why we do what we do as artists anyway?

To create the base for this look and make it last I used ProAiir Hybrid Airbrush makeup in Flo White so you know she was gonna glow under that black light. ProAiir is my go to makeup for so many reasons but, I absolutely love how well it stays put and how vibrant the colors are.
Pro tips: Shake this makeup up well. The pigment tends to settle at the bottom but, just shake it if it's been sitting on your table for a while and add a few drops to your airbrush cup. A little goes a long way so start off with a few drops then, add more as you go.

On her eyes I used the following products:

matte fluid eye paint

Hola Chola Palette from Colourpop which I believe was limited edition so the Gone Matte is a great alternative. Honestly any matte Black and Gray eyeshadow will work on this look but, I really do like the matte colors from Colourpop cosmetics.

Followed up by a haze of black from ProAiir

and for a fun pop of Red on her eyes I used Asylum loose pigment by Sugarpill.

The eyeliner is Black from the ProAiir Solids line. One of my all time favorite products to do linework with. I use a couple of drops of the prolong to activate the makeup and it's locked and loaded and not budging all night.

I did a light haze of airbrush on her neck, back and arms in Flo White so there was a continuation of color from the face to the body. All in all this took me about an hour to complete because we had to stop and do some outfit changes, adjust the headpiece etc.

Here's a little video short of the process.
