Day 3 Glitter and Glam Challenge

Today is December 3rd and today I'm sharing  a Fall inspired Butterfly eye design. I used Calabaza Sugar Glitter paired with Cameleon face paints and Ben Nye Lumieres. This design is a great one for adults.

Day 2 Glitter and Glam Challenge

Today is December 2nd and the look I'm sharing with you is a very simple date night glitter eye. I used Maya Glitter by Sugar Glitter over a smokey gray eye shadow paired with a neutral cheek and lip color making the eyes the show piece.

Day 1 Glitter and Glam Challange

What better way to kick off the glitteriest month of the year than with a daily Makeup challenge.
I have challenged myself before during the month of December to a face paint a day and let me tell you that was exhausting. So, why did I decide to do this again being that I probably have triple the work load than I did 2 years ago? Let me tell you why...

This will either kill me or I will come out with some great new looks and maybe not so great looks but, either way I will have accomplished a goal. Goals in life are so important to our spirit and our growth as artists. I feel it's important to constantly be creating and improving ones self on a daily basis no matter what it is, and a daily challenge is one of the best ways to accomplish this.

 I would like to invite you to join this challenge with me. Whether you do this for the month of December or you do this during another time of the year let it be a way to learn and grow into being a better artist and a better you.

 My personal challenge this month is all about Glitter and Glam. I will either be posting a Glittery eye makeup look, a Glitter face or body painting design or both. I will be sharing new designs as well as some past favorites. To kick off this challenge  I am posting a design from last Holiday season that to this day is one of my favorites because it incorporates beauty and face paint... my specialty.

 I call this design Golden Glitter Stars. I used Oro glitter from Sugar Glitter to make it extra sparkly.

How do I remove face paint?

Oh how long are the lists of products and big debates on which way is the best way to remove face paint.

 I'm here to offer you my advice and help. You can take or leave but, I promise I will never steer you wrong. First, can we establish the fact that FACE PAINT is actually MAKEUP... whoa, did I just blow your mind? Take it in for a minute, digest it.. ok.. ready? Let's move on.

 Now, if you think logically for a moment the best way to remove makeup is to use makeup remover...correct? Yes.

 As a makeup artist I have tried soooo many makeup removers and in my professional opinion there are a couple of hands down winners.

My first choice is Neutrogena Makeup Wipes or (the Generic Target brand) and Neutrogena eye makeup remover. I tell my own clients including those with children to use a makeup wipe like Neutrogena  to remove most of the face paint (makeup) then, wash with a mild face wash or tear free shampoo. This method works beautifully and there is little to no staining even with the toughest Teals and Red colors.

My second choice is a more expensive but, a green choice and that is Josie Maran's Makeup wipes. These are slightly more expensive than Neutrogena and the Target brand but, is really a lovely product that removes almost all traces of makeup, dirt and oil. They leave the skin feeling clean and hydrated.

My third choice is a yummy cleanser from Philosophy called Purity made simple. I actually use a Neutrogena makeup wipe first then,cleanse with this cleanser and a wash cloth. All traces of makeup are removed and my skin is left feeling moisturized and comfortable.

There you have it in a nutshell. Makeup Wipe + Mild Cleanser = Awesomely clean, comfortable non stained skin.

If your client doesn't have these products you can recommend using coconut oil or almond oil on a cotton ball to remove traces of makeup after the skin has been gently washed with a tear free shampoo or facial cleanser.

Face Paint and Makeup Brushes Review (Makeup Monday)

Last week there was a buy 1 get 1 free sale on La Corneille brushes at Michael's Arts and Crafts store so, I thought I would try out a couple new brushes. This is the best time to try new brushes from other brands. I typically use Loew Cornell Goldgrip rounds and liners, Athena Filberts and Royal and Langknickle flats.

My opinion on the #6 round is that while I do love the flexibility of this brush I feel as if it is a tad too long for the thickness. Making it a bit harder to control.

The #10 filberts are smooth and work like a dream. They are tapered just enough but, not too much. I will definitly be repurchasing these.

The #1/8 Angular brushes will be used not for face painting but for gel eyeliner in my makeup kit. I have used these before and they have replaced my expensive Bobbie Brown eyeliner brushes.

After playing with these brushes for a while I'm still gonna stick to my Goldgrips and if I can find them, the Loew Cornell 7000 series rounds (Micheal's no longer carries these). I do however, like the La Corneille Filberts. They are very comparable to the Athena filberts.

           La Corneille #6 rounds $7.19
           La Corneille #1/8 Angular $5.49

Stargazing lily face painting

I have a serious problem. Whenever I have my eye makeup done I feel the need to paint my face and today was no exception. I used my Too faced Be Merry Palette to create a green and brown neutral eyeshadow look for our family fun day and of course the minute I get home and sit down at my computer I get inspired to paint.

 I love to paint nature. Butterflies and flowers are my favorite but, I am totally inspired by Tattoo art. I have a love affair with tattoos and yes I have a couple that I regret getting and some day will either remove them or have them covered up but, for now I will do my best to translate that love into face and body painting.

 I painted a Stargazing lily design here on my face and tried to play off the colors in my eyeshadow. I hope you are inspired by this and find whatever your passion to paint is and paint it!

Happy New Years! 2014

This year is going to be a year of transformation and change. I want to grow in every area of my life. I will be focusing on:

#.1 My health of course.
#2. I want to make more YouTube Makeup Tutorials and Face Painting Tutorials for my viewers
#3. I want my face and body painting business to grow in every area.

 I have seen a such a huge growth in my face painting business since I started it back in 2010. My first party was booked in January 2011 and from then until now I have grown as an artist and as a business woman.

My goal for this year is to get more organized and reach out more to my clients. As I do this I will share my business tips with you all, in hopes that you too will see your own business flourish and grow.

Goodbye 2013

It's time to say goodbye to 2013.  Here's to an awesome year of learning for me in my personal life as well as my professional life. I am so thankful to all of you for supporting me throughout this year and all that it has brought. I took some time off in the beginning of the year to grieve the loss of my Grandma Judy. I didn't know that it would hit me as hard as it did. I guess you can never be ready for it and it happens when it happens. I learned to put GOD first in my life above all else. once I did that everything else began falling into place. I was given the opportunity to teach a class on FabaTV this year which had it been given to me last year I would not have been ready for. It proves that GOD's timing is always perfect.

 I am so grateful for every opportunity that comes my way.I only hope to inspire the inner artist in all of you with everything that I do. I have had a few people unhappy with my decision to share the art of face painting with everyone via my Youtube tutorials . I guess they would be called haters. Who knew one day I would have people upset with me for sharing. Honestly, life is way too short not to share all that we have with one another. We are not promised tomorrow. So, no matter what anyone says, I will continue to share my creations with you. I only hope to bless others as I am so blessed by all of you! If GOD blesses you with a gift then, you must bless HIM and others with it.

FOTD Frozen face paint design

Today's FOTD is inspired by a combination of Christmas movies. It's a little bit of Jack Frost from the movie The Rise of the Guardians , A little bit of the The White Witch from the Chronicles of Narnia and a little bit of Elsa from Frozen.

I am very inspired by Disney movies when it comes to face painting and this design is no exception. I really love Christmas and winter painting. I hope you are inspired to create your own Frozen design from this.

I used Fab Glitter White and Metal, Paradise brilliant Azure, Wolfe White, Swarovski crustals, Ben Nye lumieres in Ice, Cosmic Violet, Silver and Cosmic Blue.

FOTD Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer

I have painted a sleeker, perhaps even sexier Reindeer Face painting design or makeup design for the classic Rudolf the Red nosed Reindeer lol! I couldn't help it. Sometimes my designs simply just create themselves and this is a perfect example of that.

This can of course be modified to a more masculine or boy like design but I painted it on myself so it came out more feminine. I hope you can draw inspiration from it to create your own fabulous reindeer face painting design from it.

I used Ben Nye lumiere white, Starblend White, Wolfe skin Palette, Orange and black.
