Skeleton Face painting

Anyone who knows me knows that I love painting Skulls and Sugar skulls so, it should come as no surprise that when I was asked by the director of this video to re-create a skeleton design I painted on him for Dia de los muertos last season of course I said YES! Here is the director and inspiration design for the video below:

And here is the music video by #1 Reggae Artist on Billboard... Stylez called
"Skeleton Fresh"

I will be teaching Skulls and Sugar Skulls in a few cities in
the United States, Canada and Australia this year..
Up first is Santa Fe, New Mexico

Sugar Skull Workshops

It seems that each year I begin preparing earlier and earlier for the Dia de los muertos season. This year is no exception. I am doing things a little different this season as I have had many years of trial and error to perfect how I go about choosing artists to work with me.

There are so many factors that go into it that it almost becomes impossible to meet all of the requirements without meeting artists in person so, I'm now on a mission to meet and work with face painters and makeup artists from all over the country via Sugar Skull workshops.

I will be travelling with my partner Ronnie Mena teaching, working with and helping artists from all over the United States up their Sugar Skull game starting this June.

*This will now be a requirement in order to qualify to join my Sugar Face and Body Art team.

This is what you will gain from this experience:

1. You will get hands on learning and critique along with homework to continue growing before the season begins from Ronnie Mena and myself.
2. You will be added to my private student group on facebook where I answer questions online and hold once a month live video chats for questions.
3. You will be able to network with other artists in your area for possible job sharing.

4. You will have an opportunity to showcase your skills if you think you are ready to join
Sugar Face and Body Art. (This is not required in order to take our Sugar Skulls workshop but, for those who feel they are ready the opportunity is available.) Jobs are not guaranteed even if you do meet the qualifications but, you will remain on my roster of artists in your area to be called first if a client needs someone in your area.
If larger job opportunities arise in Los Angeles, California you may be called to join us. More info will be sent to you once you sign up for a workshop in your area.

Host city requirements:

*In order to host a class in your city we need at least 15 students ready to sign up and no more than 20.

 *Workshops are $150 per student.

*We need a well lit workspace with tables and chairs. Chain Restaurants are not an ideal option. Art /makeup studios, hotel meeting rooms, community center meeting rooms or homes with adequate space and lighting are recommended.

*If you would like us to come to your city and think you have enough artists to sign up then, please email me at sugarfaceandbodyart@gmail.com

Workshops will be held from June 2017-September 2017

If you would like to sign up for a workshop be sure to visit my website at www.shawnadmakeup.com

I look forward to meeting you all very soon!

Dia De Los Muertos Makeup

Today is Dia de Los Muertos. We celebrate the lives of those loved one's in our lives that have passed away. Today I celebrate the life of my beautiful Grandma Judy. She was the most beloved, amazing, funny, loving, caring, selfless woman I knew. My heart aches for her everyday but, I know she would not want me to hurt so today I will create and paint in her honor. She was always so supportive of my work and thought I was soo talented even when I didn't. She is only gone for a little while and one day we will be reunited in heaven and we will paint and create together. We will laugh and she will hug and kiss me like she always did.

Here are some of the Suagr skull faces I painted or did makeup for this year in honor of Dia de Los Muertos or Day of the dead....Please enjoy and celebrate with me!

This one was inspired by Diego Rivera's Nude with Calla Lilies painting...As most of you may know I love to paint anything related to flowers and nature. This is one of my favorites it is the first in a series of face and body painting Calacas or Sugar skulls in collaboration with Darling Images and Leanne Hare.

This is a couple that I painted to represent the Bride and Groom at the Dia de Los Muertos celebration.

Here is a close-up of the Brides Mask. This one had a ton of glitter and a few crystals added to the sides.

This one is more of a traditional skull or a more masculine version. I tried to keep the mouth more feminine.
and last but not least for sure, this is a more traditional Calaca. It is inspired by many paintings and tattoo art.

I hope you enjoy and are inspired as I have been by so many in my life. I will continue to paint these beautiful images in remebrance of the beautiful people in life that have passed before us. Happy day of the Dead to you all!

Halloween monster face painting

I know it seems early to be talking about Halloween face painting but, in my world Halloween preperation started a month ago. Yes, August! A lot of thought goes into what I practice each year. This year I'm practicing my scary monsters. I've been playing around with Starblend cake makeup and of course some blood and fx. I'm think about purchasing some Zombie skin in the next couple of days to make some ugly scars and great zombie effects. In the mean time here are a few of my recent faces made with face paint and makeup. I hope you enjoy and feel inspired just as so many talented artists have inspired these.
