Tiger Makeup FOTD

Today's Face of the day is a Tiger. I was headed to an animal themed party so, what better to go as than my spirit animal...a Tiger! Rawr!

I used Inglot matte eyeshadows and Cameleon water activated makeup for the line work. This is a very simple and quick design that can be replicated on the job very easily that's why I chose to wear it. I always wear designs I know will be easy for me to paint again on a guest.
Face painting doesn't always have to have a cartoony look to it. You can make it beautiful by simply finishing off the eyes and creating a beautiful flow that compliments your clients face.
I opted to add a bold lip with this look but, you could always go neutral for a more sophisticated look.
The lip color I used was Watermelon lip creme by Jouer.

I hope these inspire you to paint a beautiful, wearable design to your next gig. Tag me in your post if you do.

Mardi Gras Style Makeup

The time is upon us for Mardi Gras so, I thought I would gather up some of my past Mardi Gras style face painting designs and put them in one collection to help inspire you to create your own new masks.

This is my Stained Glass mask. I used tons of glitter and Swarovski Crystals to make it sparkle and shine. The glitter colors I used were by Sugar Glitter Beso, Calabaza, Diamantes de Fuego and Oro. This is definitely one you'd pull out for that extra special private appointment. Reduce the amount of black detail for public events and you'd still have a wow factor design.

This is a Sugar Free design. I opted for a pearl like beading around the eyes to give it an almost SugarSkull feel because as most know that's my favorite thing to paint. I used Cameleon Airline for the base and Cameleon water activated makeup for all of the details.

Airbrush face paint and makeup is great for a Mardi Gras mask that needs to last all night long. I used ProAiir hybrids for the base as well as eyeshadow and Dips for lining.

This Mardi Gras Rose Mask goes to show you that Black, White and Gray prove to be an excellent pairing for a more sophisticated crowd. I use Cameleon Colorblock in Swan to create this design.

Here is another example of how airbrush can be the answer for a beautifully blended look. The entire design was created with ProAiir hybrid makeup and the details were created with Dips by ProAiir

Here is an alternative to the full Mardi Gras style mask. It's still just as sparkly and sophisticated with a touch of glam. I used Noche glitter, Diamantes glitter and Elegante Glitter by Sugar Glitter.

I hope you have a fantastic Mardi Gras celebration wherever you are and be sure to share the wealth. Be a blessing and be blessed.

San Diego Workshops 2017

I'm so excited to be teaching in Beautiful San Diego. I made a trip down last year and wished I had stayed longer so this year I've decided to offer a 2 day workshop.

Start of your two days of learning by moving through proper canvas prep. Learn basic skincare troubleshooting, Foundation matching and beauty makeup fundamentals.

Then get prepared to move onto thinking outside of the box in terms of design. We will do this through the use of powder pigments and water activated makeup products together to create soft yet impactful and creative designs sure to impress any crowd.

The following day is a continuation of day 1 however now we will get ready to sparkle and shine. In this workshop I will teach how to use traditional Beauty Makeup, Face Paint and Glitter to create beautiful glamorous looks.
Now that you have learned to prep your canvas we will move onto precision work. Learn the importance of color placement, layering and Glitter application throughout the day with beautiful photo worthy masks and eye looks.

If you have never taken a workshop with me be prepared to learn tons of new information and get your hands on. You will paint and apply makeup in both classes.

You can sign up for my face paint workshops here

Today is December 26th I'm in the home stretch so, I have created something on the fly...haha pun intended. This is my Fantasy bird eye design. I used Cameleon colorblock in Siren by Brierley and Mimi's green also by Cameleon. I used a few inglot eyeshadows in Lime green, green, yellow and purple and the glitter I used was Luces de Oro one of my favorites by Sugar Glitter.  You can view the video and see it really sparkle on instagram.

Original Creative Single Eye Designs

Do you have a niche in the makeup or face paint world? Do ever think where do I fit in? What is my specialty? I know I did when I first started painting. I found myself naturally leaning to painting Creative single eye designs. I believe it started because I would paint my own face before I would go out on a gig.

I personally didn't want a full face meltdown half way through my day so, I would paint a design based off of my eyeshadow color and/or theme of the party or event I was going to be at. My goal is always to blend the design to create a beautiful seamless looking Creative eye design.

I found myself painting more moms and women at parties as well. Most women don't want a face full of face paint either. They always seem to ask for something small. My answer to that was to create something around the eye in a "C" shape mostly. Sometimes that shape would start at the forehead and come down in more of a "V" shape.

I usually need some sort of inspiration when painting someone. It may be the clothes they are wearing, the eyeshadow they have on or the theme of the event. I have even found myself painting designs like this for little boys and girls. Most parents appreciate it and kids are always impressed with the detail. Of course, there is always a time and place for a full face design but, I just naturally lean towards Creative Single Eye designs.

Whether I am using the One Stroke method, rainbow cakes or airbrushing I always lean toward creating these "Creative single eye designs" as I like to call them. They are fun and sometimes challenging which I personally love because I feel it makes me grow as an artist.

I have put together a collection of some of my designs for inspiration. I have posted these over the course of the last year and a half so most of them are fairly recent. I hope you are inspired to get creative and create some of your own Creative Single Eye Designs too. I would love to see them. Feel free to share them with me here or on my facebook page.

Finding your niche is easy just go through the photos you post and look to see what you tend to do over and over again. What do people love that you do? That is your niche. Try not to be anyone else. Sure, copying is how we learn but, find out who you are and be the best you you can be.
