25 days of Christmas Face painting designs 2019

It's been a very long time since I've done a face painting challenge and I felt like it was time to up my Christmas face painting game. This was definitely a major challenge for me painting everyday especially after day 23 when I started to get sick, then on Christmas eve I almost went to the hospital after I painted. It was scary but, I put myself in the hands of God and prayed for healing. The next morning I felt so much better. I'm still recovering now but, I know I am healed because I have faith in Jesus who is our great healer.
I am truly thankful to all of the artists who joined me in this challenge. It really kept me going. I put it out there via instagram for anyone who wanted to join me and a few did. It was really fun to see everyone's different interpretations of Christmas face painting designs.
I hope you are inspired to try a challenge of growth for yourself no matter what season it is.

Tiger Makeup FOTD

Today's Face of the day is a Tiger. I was headed to an animal themed party so, what better to go as than my spirit animal...a Tiger! Rawr!

I used Inglot matte eyeshadows and Cameleon water activated makeup for the line work. This is a very simple and quick design that can be replicated on the job very easily that's why I chose to wear it. I always wear designs I know will be easy for me to paint again on a guest.
Face painting doesn't always have to have a cartoony look to it. You can make it beautiful by simply finishing off the eyes and creating a beautiful flow that compliments your clients face.
I opted to add a bold lip with this look but, you could always go neutral for a more sophisticated look.
The lip color I used was Watermelon lip creme by Jouer.

I hope these inspire you to paint a beautiful, wearable design to your next gig. Tag me in your post if you do.

Day 24 Glitter and Glam Challenge TBT

Day 24. Well, it's Christmas eve and Throwback Thursday so, in honor of both I am posting one of my favorite Christmas designs... Santa mom err, uh I mean Santa Claus ;)  This was  painted 2 years ago (yes I was a bit chubbier, haha which actually makes this Santa look about right ) and I still paint it the same way. I can't say that for many of my designs which have evolved over the years.

I used  Azucar and Beso Glitter on Santa's Hat. If you would like to learn how to paint this design you can watch the video tutorial on my youtube channel.  I will post the video tutorial down below.

Watch the tutorial here...

I hope you have a very Merry Christmas Eve.

Lilo and Stitch cheek art face painting (Stitch)

A couple of days ago I posted a pic of a little arm art design I  painted for a guest at an event I was working at. She asked for the character Stitch of Lilo and Stitch. After I posted it on facebook someone asked for a step by step for her 3 year old son who absolutely loves Stitch and carries around his little stuffed toy everywhere he goes. how could I say no to that.
This is what I came up with for her and for all of you. I hope you are able to use it at a party or event too.
 Happy Painting my friends.

Bow face painting tutorial (Makeup Monday)

It's been a while since my last post and for that I am sorry. I've been extremely busy with various projects but, I wanted to stop and share a little Step By step face painting Tutorial with you. I don't normally share these types of tutorials so, enjoy this little gem as a special holiday Easter gift from me to you.

Step 1. Pull out your favorite One stroke split cake. I've used Cupcake Arty cake given to me by SillyFarm.com
Step 2. Using a #10 Filbert load the darker side of your splitcake in order to richer color. Make a circle using the flat part of your brush.
Step 3. Using the tip of the brush start at the center of your circle and as you come out flatten your brush down to make the sides of the bows. Make a 3 on the right side and and E on the left side.
Step 4. Color in your bow
Step 5. Make the tails of your bow
Step 6. Using a #1 script liner load your brush with black and outline your bow with a thin line.
Step 7. Using a #3 round load your brush in grey and add some shading. While the paint is still wet take a 1/4 DM Stippler dry brush and drag the grey paint to blend it out.
Step 8. Load the lighter colors from your split cake onto your filbert and add some highlights. Take more of the darker paint and blend so there are no definite lines.

TADA you are finished with your beautiful bow.

You can always simplify this by leaving off the tails and forgoing the shading portion if you are in a rush. Makes a great base bow for tons of designs including Minnie Mouse.

I hope you are able to use this on your next event.

Frozen face painting designs

The movie Frozen has been huge on the birthday party season lately. I came up with a quick Frozen inspired face painting tutorial in December but, it's just not enough to have only one design readily available to my little clients so I have been working on my character cheek art designs.

I have come up with a cute little Olaf design that all the kiddos love. It's pretty fast and easy.
Here is my Queen Elsa face painting design

and my Anna face painting design

These are anime inspired designs. I love to take a classic princess and throw a little anime in her eyes. The simple lining also gives it that same feeling. I do love painting realism but, when it comes to cartoons why not go all out and really make them fun to look at.

I hope you are inspired to create your own version of these characters much like I was.

Happy Painting my painty friends,
Shawna
