What's in my Makeup bag

As a Makeup artist it is very hard to try and narrow down what I keep in my makeup bag so I will just share with you what are my must have's or go to products.....

#1. Concealer. I Use Maybelline Age Rewind under eye concealer in Medium. It has been a very long time since I've raved about a concealer but, this one is fab! Not only does in conceal very nicely but it doesn't emphasize my lines....Hello Bonus!

#2. Foundation. Every woman needs a great everyday foundation and I keep going back to my old stand by True Match Blendable foundation in W4 from L'Oreal. I have tried a numerous amount of foundations but, this one is just beautiful and buildable yet, feels ultra lightweight.

#3. Powder. Laura Geller balance N brighten in Medium. I tried this in a small kit and ended up buying the larger size. It is a great powder foundation. Used alone it gives a nice sheer to medium coverage. used with foundation it gives a beautiful flawless finish. I keep it in my purse to touch up once a day. (Warning) the colors run a bit light. I wish there were more colors and I do wish they were a tad bit warmer. So, if you tend to have a bit more yellow in your skin or are a medium to dark or darker skintone this may not be right for you instead try Mac Mineralize skinfinsh natural.

#4. Bronzer. Mac Matte bronze. This has been my old stand by for a while now. I found a better bronzer from Too faced but, alas I was allergic to it. I was so sad because it was matte and the color was amazing. So instead I'm back using the Matt Bronze from Mac.

#5. Blush. This truely varies from day to day much like lipstick and eyeshadow however, My favorite blushes are Rose D'Oro from Milani it's a gorgeous warm and cool shimmery rose/ bronze color. Desire from Lorac..Oh this color is just an amazing cool shimmery pink. I can pop this on top of ANY other color and it just creates a beautiful glow from within look. Love this!

#6. Eyebrows. I have used LaFemme Medium brown eyebrow powder for over 15 years now and I still love it.

#7 Eyeshadow. a friend of mine introduced me to Lorac Serenity eyeshadow years ago and today it is still my favorite. It is a  nude shimmer. It can be used wet or dry for a beautiful dewy look on the eyes. Just gorgeous especially when there is no time for a full on smokey look.

#8. Eyeliner. I have tried many eyeliners over the years but  lately I have been picking up Physicians formula shimmer liquid eyeliners daily. I use the black one almost daily. It really does stay all day.

#9. Eyelashes. I would not be who I am without my trusty Shu Uemura eyelash curler. I have cow lashes (thye go straight down not straight out but, down) so, without this tool my looks would never be complete. I have also been enjoying the Rocket Mascara from Maybelline although my all time favorite is my Yves St. Laurent Volume effect Faux Cils.

#10 Lips. I love the pro longwear lip pencils from Mac paired with my favorite Color design lipsticks from Lancome. I am still looking for a replacement for my Shu Uemura 132 lipstick. I loved that thing to death. It was shear goodness in a Coraly shimmery way.

Ben Nye Lumiere Review and Swatches

I have been wanting this Ben Nye Lumiere Palette for a while now and finally I have added it to my collection of Face Painting Supplies. I was able to put it to use over this past weekend on two different gigs.

Here is my opinion on the eyeshadows.......
Ben Nye is a trusted American brand for all your theatrical and makeup needs. There isn't a large budget for fancy editorial photo shoots from this company but, let me tell you the quality of their products is outstanding from a professional point of view and this palette has lived up to the hype.

If you are a face painter you must understand this first....THESE ARE EYE SHADOWS.. they are not face paints. Yes, face paint is in the same category as makeup but, these are not face paints. The packaging does state that you can use them wet or dry however, after testing this out I quickly realized that wetting the shadows leaves the shadow hard then, when you go to use it dry again it is much harder to pick up the powder on your brush or smoothie blender.
There are several ways you can use these including on their own or over a flat colored face paint to add shimmer or to create a different color. I like using them on the eyelids in my princess designs and layering over paint for a shimmery goodness effect or down the center of the nose for my butterflies.

Here are the pros and cons

Pros....
1. Ultra Pigmented eye shadows in a large pot for a small dollar amount means more bang for your buck.
2. Trusted American Brand
3. The colors are beautiful, shimmery and go on smooth.
4. Palette is durable for traveling with in your kit.
5. Great for using on girls and women's designs, great alternative to using glitter as they have a high shine factor.
6. The palette is refillable

Cons...
1. If you wet them, be prepared to shave off the top after it has dried in order to use the dry again..which means loss of product.
2. The brush inside is not great.
3. Some of the colors do stain like the dark green, dark purple and dark blue. I was a bit surprised by this considering they are eye shadows.

I would recommend using a different smoothie blender on each person as these are not face paints and do not have the antibacterial properties that face paints do. I used a smoothie blender but, quickly moved to using my powder puffs for sanitary reasons. You can use the powder puffs with the Lumiere eye shadows just like with the Starblends and they are easier to toss in your dirty sponge bag and wash in the washer when you get home.

Overall I really enjoy a few of the colors like Iced Gold, Charteuse, Azalea, Sun Yellow, Cosmic Violet, Cosmic blue and Jade.
I would probably reorder these colors in the larger size to refill the larger black Ben Nye Palette.

I would give this palette 4 stars out of 5

Below are some photos of the palette as well as swatches....

Below the swatches as follows Ice, Aztec Gold, Silver,Azalea, Cosmic Blue & Sun Yellow.
Iced Gold, Tangerine, Chartreuse, Jade, Amethyst and Cosmic Violet.

I used Iced Gold over her forehead and down her nose, Sun yellow on her eyes, Azalea and tangerine as the base for the wings in this design. I even used Azalea on her lips and used a clean wet brush after I applied it to smooth the color out. Other products I used here.. Wolfe Deep Raspberry & Wolfe White.

*As a disclaimer..I paid for this product with my own money and was not paid for this review.

Tattoo Rose face painting FOTD

Today's Face of the day is a tattoo Style Rose. This is a super quick and elegant design that could be used for formal events, nightclubs and more. It doesn't get much easier. I used a #3 round Loew Cornell brush with Wolfe Black. I added some glitter gel with a brush since, I have de-potted my Suzy Sparkles glitter gels squeezable tubes into stack-able pots. I find it's just a bit easier and now I really enjoy using them again. No matter what, the glitter gels in the squeezable tubes always get clogged! I hope you are inspired and enjoy this design.

FOTD Blue single eye butterfly

Here is a pretty little butterfly I painted over the weekend. I used a custom peacock splitcake, Wolfe black and white face paint with a #3 round brush for the linework and details. I added some gorgeous teal glitter to the center of the butterfly and to some of the teardrops.  I hope you are inspired to create and be creative.
