25 days of Christmas Face painting designs 2019

It's been a very long time since I've done a face painting challenge and I felt like it was time to up my Christmas face painting game. This was definitely a major challenge for me painting everyday especially after day 23 when I started to get sick, then on Christmas eve I almost went to the hospital after I painted. It was scary but, I put myself in the hands of God and prayed for healing. The next morning I felt so much better. I'm still recovering now but, I know I am healed because I have faith in Jesus who is our great healer.
I am truly thankful to all of the artists who joined me in this challenge. It really kept me going. I put it out there via instagram for anyone who wanted to join me and a few did. It was really fun to see everyone's different interpretations of Christmas face painting designs.

Christmas face painting ideas

I don't know why I haven't posted this sooner, but I was inspired by Kelli ZermiƱo a blogger for Olga Mursev's international face painting school. She posted a great Christmas blog post full of great Christmas and Holiday inspired face painting designs and included a few of my designs as well as a shoutout to my line of ultra sparkly cosmetic glitters.

As a face painter and artist I know how hard it is to come up with a winning design and how easily we get stumped when it comes to Christmas and Holiday designs, so I have put a few of my own Christmas and Holiday face painting designs and face painting tutorials together here for your inspiration.

I hope they spark your creativity and help you to create your own festive designs for your next face painting gig. Enjoy and have a Happy Holiday.

Face and Body Painting Classes and Workshops

When I was in college many, MANY moons ago I was going to school to be a music teacher. It was during this time that I took a job at a Makeup counter and my life headed in another creative direction. I decided one day I would like to gain enough knowledge to help guide and teach makeup artists by becoming a Trainer for a cosmetic company. I really do love guiding and teaching people to gain new skills that will make them feel empowered and improve their ability to create and connect to their canvas..."other people".

Through my own artistic journey over the past year I have come to a place where I needed to do something different, something outside of my artistic box and realized that if I was going through this how many other artists are going or have gone through this too and that is how my latest Creative Beauty workshop formed.

In my latest fusion beauty (where beauty makeup meets Art and face paint) workshop I not only teach you the fundamentals of beauty but, I teach you how to think outside of your own artistic box, how to dig deeper to find something new inside that you didn't even know existed. I had 14 ladies join me in the first creative beauty workshop and ALL had breakthroughs. It was so amazing to watch and even more amazing to hear all of the positive feedback.

I am really looking forward to taking this workshop and a few of my other skill building workshops on the road across the U.S. this year and abroad in 2018.

A few of the cities and areas that are in the works right now are:

2017
San Diego, California

Northern, California

The Bay Area, California

San Antonio & Dallas, Texas

Madison, Connecticut

New Jersey

Costa Rica

2018

The Netherlands

New Zealand

Once dates and times are confirmed they will be posted here as well as on my website and social media.

If you are interested in hosting a fusion beauty workshop in your area please email me at shawna@shawnadmakeup.com and don't forget to subscribe on my website to be notified when a new city is added to my calendar.

Pink kitty face painting mask FOTD

When it comes to painting cats I prefer to paint mask style designs for a few reasons.

1. I feel like they are sexier on women. They take on sort of a venetian style or feel and cats always make women feel playful and sexy.

2. They look adorable on kids. Enough said. Kitty or Tiger masks win hands down as adorableness overload every time.

3. There is less of a chance of messing it up. How often have you painted a full face Tiger and the child immediately presses their lips together before the paint has dried and ruins the lips? When you skip the muzzle kids can still eat and look cute through the entire party.

4. Speed. Masks are always great when you have a ton of designs to paint. I am not by any means a super fast painter in fact, I prefer to stay between 10-15 designs per hour but, I can tell you this, skipping the muzzle means cutting the time by at least a quarter and you still get a wow from everyone when you're done.

Those are my reasons and of course if you've ever taken one of my face painting classes you will remember me saying "Always complete the look".  Don't forget to line the eyes and add a pretty lip color to match if it will complete the look of your design.

In this design I used a multi media technique which I always tend to do because I feel like I can get a more dimensional look when I mix makeup mediums.

Here I used not only aqua paints but, eyeshadows, pigments and glitters (Glitter used here is Violeta by Sugar Face and Body Art) and yes before you even ask I do this on the job too. It only takes a few seconds to add a pretty pigment on top of or instead of water activated makeup.  I hope you enjoy this look and are inspired to create your own version.

Happy Painting my friends,

Shawna

Face painting student group

A while ago I created a private group on facebook for current and former face paint and Makeup students of mine to join. A place where we could talk about things I have taught in my face painting and Makeup workshops across the united states.

I created this group with the intention of continuing to mentor and help anyone who has taken a makeup class with me to be even more successful in their creative journey. In this group I post items I have used in class, give makeup tips and tricks, post helpful guides  and sometimes students will just have questions regarding something we went over in class that they just need clarification on or maybe just need to hear again. This helps other students as well because some may have similar questions and are able to find the answers they are looking for in one place.

I really enjoy seeing artists grow as I feel that if you are not growing you are not really living up to your full potential. I want to continue to grow in all areas of my life and art fills a big part of my life therefore, I want to help others fill that part of their life as well. I believe it's important to feel supported and lifted up by those you respect and consider your peers along this journey so, if you have taken a full day workshop with me and are not in this group please add me as a friend on facebook and I will add you to this group. I have just recently posted a custom palette I created and purchased from Frend's Beauty before my Dallas Sugar Skull Makeup workshop. I have listed all of the colors and order I have them in my palette in this post.

Every evening I pray with my children before I put them to bed and ask God to help us to be a blessing to others each day. My journey on this planet is short and I want God to use me in a way that glorifies Him. I know that through face painting I have found a way to reach and bless so many people. I hope you will find a way to use what gifts you have been given to not just support you and your family but, to nourish and bless others as well. Do what you love and make that work to bless others everyday.

Quotes from "The purpose driven life" daily inspiration-

A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God shaped life is a flourishing tree
Proverbs 11:28

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by the long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.
Jeremiah 17:7-8

Hearts and Stars face painting

This is my first Self Painting for the New Year. I was on my way to paint at the CSULB Men's basketball game and so I knew I was going to use Yellow somehow in my design but, with Valentine's Day coming up I thought I would create a new heart face painting design.
I used Cameleon Colorblock in Roses for this entire design with the exception of the White and Black which is also Cameleon.
I used Rosa Glitter and Sol Glitter by Sugar Glitter. On my eyes are all Inglot matte shadows. My lips are a combination of Too Faced Melted Fuchsia, Revlon Matte Balm in Audacious with Miss Adoro Lipliner and Stila Lip Glaze in Raspberry.

Day 31 Glitter and Glam challenge

I did it!!! I made it to Day 31 and the end of this challenge. I'm so excited to share this last one with you all. This last Glam Makeup design is a Venetian Mosaic Glitter mask. The entire mask is covered in 4 different Sugar Glitters including Pasos de Oro (Gold), Calabaza (Orange), Beso (Red) and a New chunky glitter called Diamantes de Fuego (Chunky Red, Orange and Gold combination).

Thank you for coming along on this journey with me and all through the year. As with every year I look forward to growth as an Makeup Artist, a Face painting Business owner , a Cosmetic glitter Company Owner, a Makeup Artist agent and a person. I do not make new years resolutions anymore because I believe people change when they are ready to and that has been very true for me. I make changes once I am ready and have set my mind on a goal.

This year I have begun a new chapter in my life. It was a big year for me. I made new wonderful friends and one I feel is probably my kindred spirit. I feel lucky to have added some incredible people to my life and lucky to have removed people who would bring me down. I turned 40 and as I looked at the different areas in my personal life I realized that my personal life was affecting my work life and change needed to happen but, only I could make those changes happen by starting with me. I began to take control of my health and focus on me. I'm not saying any of this wasn't painful because much of it was but, I have come out on the other side and can reflect back to see how far I've come and know that I never want to be back where I was. I only want to keep moving forward. Keep working smarter not harder and keep my priorities in check.

I hope you will stay with me in 2016 and tag me in your posts as I LOVE to watch artists grow. It inspires me to keep doing what I am doing and to keep sharing the love. I want to encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone because growth doesn't happen when we stand still. So, here's saying goodbye to a great 2015 and may God bless 2016 in all areas of your life.

Love and Glitter kisses,
Shawna Del Real

Day 27 Glitter and Glam Challenge

Today is Day 27 of the #GlitterandGlam challenge. Have you been hash tagging along with me? If not add your hash tags so I can see your post too.

Today's design is a mashup of a Warrior Helmut and a Princess crown because inside every little princess lies a warrior willing to fight for herself. I used a custom colorblock using all Cameleon paints for the base and of course  Sugar Glitter in what other color but Princessa!

Add me on facebook here or instagram  to see the rest of my fun posts.

Lilo and Stitch cheek art face painting (Stitch)

A couple of days ago I posted a pic of a little arm art design I  painted for a guest at an event I was working at. She asked for the character Stitch of Lilo and Stitch. After I posted it on facebook someone asked for a step by step for her 3 year old son who absolutely loves Stitch and carries around his little stuffed toy everywhere he goes. how could I say no to that.
This is what I came up with for her and for all of you. I hope you are able to use it at a party or event too.
 Happy Painting my friends.
